Driveway Painting

Driveway Painting in Cairns

Your driveway is the first thing anyone sees, and in Cairns it takes a hiding — oil, mould, tyre marks and years of sun. A properly prepared and coated driveway looks sharp again and shrugs off the weather.

We prepare, repair and coat concrete driveways, paths and pool surrounds, in plain colours, stencilled patterns or flecked finishes.

What this service fixes

  • Stained, blotchy concrete with oil and rust marks
  • Green and black mould growth in shaded sections
  • Old driveway paint peeling and flaking in sheets
  • Slippery paths and pool surrounds after rain
  • Hairline cracking and chipped edges

What's included

  • High-pressure clean and degreasing of the whole slab
  • Acid etch or mechanical grind so the coating can bite into the concrete
  • Crack filling, chip repair and edge tidy-up
  • Concrete-specific primer or sealer
  • Two coats of durable driveway coating with a non-slip additive on request
  • Masking and protection to walls, garden beds and garage doors

How it runs

Our process, step by step

  1. 01

    Assess the slab

We check the concrete for existing coatings, moisture, cracking and oil contamination before quoting.

  2. 02

    Clean and degrease

High-pressure wash plus targeted degreasing on oil spots.

  3. 03

    Profile the surface

Etching or grinding so the new coating keys into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.

  4. 04

    Repair and prime

Fill cracks and chips, then prime or seal.

  5. 05

    Coat and cure

Two coats applied, then left to cure before you drive on it — usually a few days.

Preparation

Concrete only accepts a coating if it's been opened up. Sealed, polished or oil-soaked slabs need grinding or etching first, otherwise the paint peels within a season. That's the single most common reason a DIY driveway job fails here.

Products we use

We use concrete-rated coatings designed for vehicle traffic, hot-tyre pickup and UV exposure, with non-slip additives available for paths, ramps and pool surrounds.

Built for the tropics

Tropical rain and shade mean mould is the long-term enemy on Cairns driveways. Coatings with good mould resistance and a proper sealed edge keep it from getting back underneath.

Good questions

Driveway Painting questions

Foot traffic is usually fine after 24 hours. We ask you to keep vehicles off for around three to five days depending on the product and the weather, so the coating fully cures.

Not if it's specified properly. We add a non-slip additive to paths, ramps and pool surrounds as standard, and can add it to driveways on request.

Not directly. The failed coating has to come off first, usually by grinding. Painting over it just means the new coat lifts with the old one.

Yes — plain colours, stencilled patterns and flecked finishes are all options. We'll show you what suits the house.
