Roof Painting & Spraying

Roof Painting & Spraying in Cairns

A roof is the biggest surface on your property and the one taking the worst of the weather. Once the coating goes, you get chalking, rust at the fixings, and lichen holding moisture against the sheets.

We clean, repair, prime and spray both metal and tiled roofs across Cairns and the Northern Beaches, using coatings rated for the UV and rainfall we get up here.

  • Replacement of perished screws and seals, and minor rust treatment
  • Repointing and bedding checks on tiled roofs where needed

How it runs

Our process, step by step

  1. 01

    Roof inspection

We get up and check the substrate, fixings, flashings and any rust or broken tiles before quoting.

  2. 02

    Clean

High-pressure wash to remove lichen, chalk and anything that isn't stuck down.

  3. 03

    Repair

Rust treatment, new screws and seals, and tile repairs or repointing where required.

  4. 04

    Prime

The right primer for the surface — the step that stops the topcoat lifting in two years.

  5. 05

    Spray

Two coats applied by airless spray for an even finish across every sheet or tile.

Preparation

Most failed roof coatings are a preparation problem, not a paint problem. Coating over lichen or chalk means the new paint is only holding onto the loose layer underneath it. We wash the roof back to a sound surface, treat rust, replace perished fixings and prime properly before any colour goes on.

Products we use

We select roof-specific membranes and metal primers built for high UV and high rainfall, and can specify heat-reflective topcoats where you want to pull down the temperature in the roof space.

Built for the tropics

Up here the roof deals with intense UV, cyclonic rain and long humid stretches that let lichen take hold. We plan roof work around clear weather windows so each coat cures properly — spraying a roof with a storm two hours away is how a job fails.

Good questions

Roof Painting & Spraying questions

A typical single-storey home is two to four days depending on the size of the roof, how much repair work it needs and the weather. Cleaning and drying is usually the longest part.

Surface rust, yes — we treat and prime it. If sheets have rusted through, they need replacing first and we'll tell you straight rather than paint over a hole.

A lighter or heat-reflective topcoat reduces how much heat the roof absorbs, which helps. It isn't insulation, but it's a noticeable difference in a Cairns summer.

Yes. We mask and protect panels and work around them. Panels can't be sprayed over, so the sheets directly beneath them are cut in by hand where accessible.

No, as long as we have access to the property, water and power. We'll let you know each morning what's happening.
